Edustructures Joins Sun's iForce Community to Deliver SIF Solutions on the Sun Platform
Java™ Technology Powers SIFWorks® Zone Integration Server and SIFWorks® Agent Developer Kit (ADK®) for Secure, Seamless Interaction and Standards-based Data Sharing Among a Variety of Software Applications
|
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - July 20, 2004 - Edustructures today announced that it has
joined Sun's iForce community to deliver SIF solutions based on the Sun
platform to K-12 school districts and state departments of education nationwide.
The Java™ technology-based SIFWorks® Enterprise Zone Integration Server (ZIS)
and the SIFWorks ADK® are built on the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF)
specification, and are designed to enable secure data sharing across multiple
software applications.

"Java technology is at the heart of our leading SIF solutions," says Eric Petersen,
Chief Technology Officer of Edustructures. "The security and reliability provided by
the Java platform are exactly what schools need for their critical enterprise data,
and the availability of Java technology on multiple platforms lets schools scale up
as they need. We have districts running on many different operating systems and
hardware platforms. We're especially proud of a recent statewide project that is
deploying the SIFWorks ZIS on enterprise-class Sun Fire™ servers; we think
that's a winning combination for large districts as well as statewide SIF
implementations."
| | |
|
"Sun has been involved with SIF since the beginning," says Larry Nelson of Sun.
"SIF has truly taken the next step in the education market by moving out of the lab
and becoming a reality over the past two years, and SIFWorks solutions on our Java
technology have had a major impact on SIF's growth. As a multi-vendor network
infrastructure specification, SIF makes the Net work for education, and we look
forward to many more SIFWorks implementations in schools, districts, and states
across the nation."
| | |
|
With the SIFWorks ZIS, schools, districts and states can effectively and securely
share information across diverse software programs. Already dozens of school
districts representing hundreds of thousands of students are using SIFWorks and
Java technology-based SIF Agents to share data securely and seamlessly among
applications from multiple third-party vendors.
| | |
|
"Our customers tell us they want scalability and platform flexibility, along with
rock solid reliability and security," says Steve Curtis, Chief Operations Officer
of Edustructures. "Working with Sun as part of their iForce community, we can help
fill this need."
| | |
|
Sun's iForce Initiative is the collaboration of Sun and its partners working as
a community to address customer business issues. Through the creation, development
and delivery of proven solutions that can be implemented in less time and with
less risk, Sun and its partners enable customers to more quickly realize a return
