SIF Technology—Helping Librarians Do What Matters Most
“Follett Software Selects Edustructures to Deliver SIF Compliant Agents for Library Systems to Enable Data Sharing with a Variety of Software Applications”
| SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - September 21, 2004 - Edustructures
announced today that it had been selected by Follett Software
Company to be the sole distributor and support provider for
Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) Agent technology for
both the Circulation Plus™ and Destiny™ Resource Management
Solution which are used in K-12 libraries and media centers.
Much of a librarian’s time to understand the needs of the
children has been lost to administrative tasking and redundant
data management. SIF technology allows librarians more time to
create an environment that fosters learning and exploration and
provides a boundless resource of information for students.

|
“Follett Software pioneered SIF technology as SIF's first library
automation vendor,” said Tom Schenck, president of Follett Software
Company. “One of Follett Software’s primary goals is to improve access
to information, and our involvement with SIF is a prime example of
that commitment. Data sharing between our library management solutions
and other education enterprise applications helps library media
specialists, technical coordinators and other administrators save
system time and effort and focus on what’s important - helping improve
student achievement. Those using Follett Software’s SIF-certified
circulation products can be confident that their software will
exchange data with any other SIF-compliant software.”
| The
first Follett Software product to receive SIF certification is
client/server-based Circulation Plus® v5.1. Follett’s 100%
browser-based Destiny Resource Management Solution will be tested for
SIF certification as new certification tests are released. The Destiny
Resource Management Solution includes Destiny Library Manager™ and
Destiny Textbook Manager™.
| Developed by Utah-based
Edustructures, the leading SIF development and integration company,
the SIF Agent for the Destiny Resource Management Solution can be
installed on the Destiny server or any other server in the district
office. Each Agent regularly checks for database changes and sends any
changes to a SIF Zone Integration Server (ZIS) where they are
dispersed to other SIF-enabled applications, as appropriate, in
real-time. | | |
| The Follett Software/Edustructures partnership
will provide users of both companies’ products increased assurance
that their products are designed and tested to work well together.
Follett Software also selected Edustructures to provide SIF
implementation and related support services to its customers. Schools
must acquire an agent for each application that will participate in
their SIF Zone (the grouping of SIF-related software applications).
Steve Curtis, Chief Operating Officer of Edustructures, notes, “We are
very proud to have a market leader like Follett choose Edustructures
as their SIF technology partner. We look forward to helping users of
Follett’s Destiny Resource Management Solution achieve additional
efficiency using SIFWorks.”
