EDUSTRUCTURES ANNOUNCES SIFWORKS® ZONE INTEGRATION SERVER (ZIS) ENTERPRISE EDITION 3.0
Next-Generation ZIS From Market-Leading SIF-Solutions Provider Enhances Usability, Flexibility, and Visibility into the SIF Enterprise

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah—November 6, 2008—Edustructures, the leading provider of Schools
Interoperability Framework (SIF®) solutions, today released the SIFWorks® Zone Integration Server
(ZIS) Enterprise Edition 3.0, a major new version of the industry’s premier ZIS. The SIFWorks ZIS
Enterprise Edition has been certified to the SIF 2.0r1 specification by the Schools Interoperability
Framework Association (SIFA), the industry standards body behind the SIF specification.

Taking ZIS technology beyond the basic technical requirements defined by the SIF 2 specification,
the SIFWorks ZIS Enterprise Edition offers enterprise-grade ZIS functionality by delivering the
benefits of SIF standardization with the flexibility of custom data manipulation, zone organization,
user and group account management and more. Further, the cross-platform nature of the SIFWorks ZIS
Enterprise Edition enables greater choice, meaning users can choose the software and operating systems
that best meets their unique need for data integration. The SIFWorks ZIS Enterprise Edition offers
the following key features:
Data Customization with Workflows and Rule Sets. The Zone Message Workflows feature in SIFWorks
ZIS Enterprise Edition enhances SIF usability by allowing users to define unique rule sets that
automate SIF routing tasks and/or content. Rule sets can be combined to achieve complex workflow
behaviors, further improving users’ ability to efficiently and securely manage their SIF
enterprise.
Directory-based User and Group Management. The SIFWorks ZIS Enterprise Edition now fully
integrates with directories such as Microsoft Active Directory, Novell eDirectory, Apple
OpenDirectory, and other systems that support LDAP. Administrative users and groups can be designated
in the directory and associated security restrictions assigned in the ZIS console.
Secure Management of Sensitive Data. The SIFWorks ZIS Enterprise Edition is designed to enforce
strong security requirements and supports all security features of the SIF 2 specification, including
requiring both encryption and x.509 certificate authentication before sending or receiving data.
Access control lists (ACLS) can be applied to agents across zones, specifying the data objects with
which they are allowed to interact within the zone. Rule sets can be imported or created that remove
sensitive data elements from SIF objects before being sent to agents that do not need to have access
to those elements.
Advanced Templates. Robust Zone Templates and Agent Templates add unmatched flexibility to zone
administration and agent maintenance, features essential for mid- to large-sized districts where
potentially hundreds of zones may exist. Templates streamline zone and agent maintenance and assure
consistent deployment of desired agent settings and zone functionality.

SIF’s industry-standard data and systems integration—the SIFWorks ZIS Enterprise Edition represents
an evolution in ZIS technology that allows unmatched flexibility and customization of the SIF
environment. We’re pleased to lead the market with this groundbreaking solution.”
