SIFWorks® Directory Manager
SIFWorks Directory Manager™ enables Microsoft® Active Directory® to exchange student and staff records with any Schools Interoperability Framework™ (SIF) compliant system including Authentication information. An entire Active Directory structure of organizations, users accounts—including Microsoft Exchange® mailboxes—and security groups can be securely automated and maintained, based on enrollment data from SIF. This application may be configured to provide the SIF Authentication object from the Directory, a feature that facilitates single sign–on to other SIF–enabled solutions. Adding to the ease–of use functionality, SIFWorks Directory Manager includes templates for rapid deployment of directory structures, Provide and Subscribe functionality, and a Synchronization Wizard for synchronization with existing directory structures.

How It Works
SIFWorks Directory Manager is a SIF agent that allows you connect your Active Directory system to your SIF Zones. Unlike intrusive SIF–enabled directory management solutions, SIFWorks Directory Manager automates the process of network provisioning while allowing you to manage your group policies in a manner that best meets the needs of your network. Further SIFWorks Directory Manager is the only SIF–enabled directory management solution that publishes the SIF Authentication object, a feature that facilitates single sign–on to other SIF–enabled solutions. You can synchronize an existing Active Directory hierarchy with your SIF–enabled Student Information System (SIS), or create a new Active Directory tree structure based on the data in the SIS.
| | |
The SIFWorks Directory Manager ships with several templates for directory structures and user and group assignments matching many common directory deployments. With the built–in field expression editor, you can customize usernames, passwords and virtually any other field in Active Directory to specific local requirements.
| | |
Because SIFWorks Directory Manager automates the creation and management of Home directories, user assignments and Exchange mailboxes in Active Directory (using the student and staff records available within a SIF compliant system), it's easier to keep up with enrollment changes across a district. As students and staff move in and out of the district or transfer between schools, the Agent automatically moves the user accounts in Active Directory or inactivates them if necessary. You can use existing naming conventions to ensure clean integration with an existing network infrastructure. All activity is logged and available through reports that can be viewed remotely.
| | |
Further, SIFWorks Directory Manager helps ensure the integrity of an existing network with a secure management interface and using the highest level of security available in SIF. All incoming account data from the SIF Zone Integration Server and the originating provider of the data can be securely verified and protected using X.509 certificate verification and 128–bit encryption. The SIF Agent can also connect to the Active Directory server using SSL and integrated authentication. Remote and local agent management is restricted using standard Active Directory policies.
| | |
In order to meet custom requirements that are common in many Active Directory installations, the Agent's management interface lets you customize or extend every Active Directory operation . The agent includes a complete VBScript Integrated Development Environment (IDE) with debugging support that exposes all of the agent's interactions with Active Directory. You can also customize the structural and group templates the agent uses to build Active Directory hierarchies and manage user and group assignments.
