Edustructures SIF Agent for SASI™

If your district relies on the SASI™ student information system from Pearson Digital Learning, SIF is the perfect way to share student and staff information with other SIF Compliant applications. Changes made in SASI are automatically delivered in real-time to subscribing applications that support the Schools Interoperability Framework, including library, transportation, cafeteria, ID card, network provisioning, grade book, and instructional applications.
 
As a partner of Pearson Digital Learning, Edustructures is the only company authorized to deliver a SIF Compliant solution for SASI customers.
 
How It Works
The Edustructures SIF Agent for SASI works behind the scenes as a background service. Depending on application management and performance considerations, the agent can be installed centrally on a single server at the central office, or locally at each school. Because it supports multiple zones and has internal load balancing, a single instance of the agent can service all of the schools in a district. Many districts install the SASI agent on the same server as the SIFWorks ZIS.
 
Once installed, changes to student data are recorded by SASI in a special database file. Changes remain cached until processed by the SIF Agent, which checks for changes on a regular basis (by default, every 30 seconds). The agent then sends the changes to the SIFWorks ZIS where they're propagated to other SIF-enabled applications according to the provisioning and Access Control policies defined by the ZIS administrator. (Note: The agent works this way even if your school is using District Integration. In other words, changes made at each school's local database are shared with SIF immediately and without involving the District Integration module.)

Requirements
  • SASI: Version 4.5.2 and later (5.5 and later recommended)
  • Java: Java 1.4.1 Runtime Environment or later (freely available from the Sun web site)
  • Operating System: Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows 2003 required to host the agent
  • Database: dBase IV (DB4), SQL Server, and Oracle are supported
 

NOTE: The SASI Agent is often installed on the same server as the SIFWorks Enterprise ZIS
